Picked this up at Greenpoint ages ago and like their other offerings, I finally got around to this on this mild winter night. As usual, I love the can and the liquid inside was one of the better brews that I've had from them. This was certainly a modern IPA (as stated in the description) given how much tropical notes, resin, and hops were present though this never felt strong or overdone!
Decent pour to this as the beer was a waxy deep gold with plenty of translucence to it. A moderate amount of head topped this off but there was hardly any lacing to be seen on the side of my Teku glass as there was just a bit of residue that remained as I worked my way through this. Lots of apricot, mango, papaya, and earthy hops in the nose with all of those more present in the taste. Slightly sticky and full of resin, this was not like Greenpoint's other offerings that I've had, and it was a subtle form of "resistance" against their proverbial norm. A full enough mouthfeel accompanied this as there was some bread but overall, this felt like a left coast beer done locally.
The amount of booze was spot-on and only a mild warming effect took hold once I finished this off. A nice oily sheen stayed on my palate but given the fists on the can, it wasn't a "punch" of any sorts. Just a fun beer that was easygoing at the same time, while holding up well over time!

L: murky milky pale yellow-gold, only a hint of gold/amber in it; opaque; pushes up about 1/2-inch head of white/offwhite foam that's slightly sticky on top; keeps a good-sized collar and most of a skin; not much lacing but still a crafty looking brew
S: grapefruit x 10 ... wow! now *that* is a grapefruit bomb; some biscuity malt is adding a little sweetness; pineapple
T: almost 1:1 with the nose, this sucker is exploding with hoppy grapefruit goodness ... a little earthy on the finish, it's super bitter and as good a grapefruit fix as I've had in some time; the malt does add a little biscuit/bread layer starting midswallow that sweetens it a pinch; orange
F: firm middleweight with good carbonation that lightens it a bit while filling out the swallow; very pleasant
O: this beer and Bio Dome have made a believer out of me -- Greenpoint is the truth! this one in particular is a showcase of big American hop flavor with the malt serving only as a framework for the hops; this can has to be at least three weeks old and might be much older, but the beer has that fresh-out-of-the-vat pop with the hops bright and shiny; a wonderful grapefruit bomb
