Picked this up right in the middle of winter, getting around to it tonight. Yes, I *could* tell this beer that it's pretty as it was quite nice to behold once I poured it out. Like the recent offerings from Greenpoint, the can design was top-notch and on par with the liquid inside of it.
Good pour to this as the beer was golden, cloudy, and uniform in hue. Plenty of foamy head topped this off as it softly and slowly settled. Not much lacing left behind but there were a few well-defined rings that were indicative of the thickness of the liquid. Lots of cream, dankness, tea-like spice, and a hint of booze in the nose with all of those in the taste as well. Lime pith, dry cheese, citrus juiciness, and dank hops rounded out the taste as this was remarkably smooth and easygoing given all that went into it. A beer like this didn't have to fish for a compliment, as it deserved them quite easily!
While not a session brew, it would be so easy to sit back and crack another one open after finishing this off - if I had more here. Greenpoint's really grown on me and though they aren't flashy, they're a well-kept secret to those of us in and near Gotham. Fans of IPA's from this neck of the woods would love this as it's a relaxed break for flashier offerings, that holds up just as well. Too bad I can't have another date with this!
