Bought this at Greenpoint a while ago and finally got around to it on this snowy night. Like most on here, I prefer the hops over the lighter stuff but this actually put a smile on my face because it was surprisingly good! Drinkable, slick, and somewhat bright, this seemed to be a cross between a Munich Helles Lager and an IPL, which was just fine by me!
Nice pour to this as the liquid was golden, fairly bright, and topped off with plenty of whipped egg white-like head. Loads of lacing was left behind including a fat, diagonal ring in the middle of my pint glass. The nose to this wasn't strong but there was grass, grain, cereal, lemon, and citrus zest in it, as the fruit flavors came out more in the taste. Wonderfully slick, juicy, and just the slightest bit sour, this didn't taste like a German Pilsener as it was incredibly bright, with the grassy and floral notes underneath the sunny feel that this gave off. Somewhat dry, the mouthfeel was a bit soapy and slick with very little lingering earthiness to it. Clean and dry, this finished crisp but had just enough body for me to chew on once the liquid went down.
Sessionable? Not even questionable! If I had another here, I could have easily cracked it open after finishing this off. It's nearly impossible to win over hopheads to this style but if one were to, this would be a great brew to win them over with. I always enjoy this style when done right as it breaks up the IPA monotony and gives my taste buds a break. Props to Greenpoint for another winner of a can with an equally enjoyable liquid inside of it!

A: pours a lovely clear gold, with a fluffy, two-finger head, reminiscent of swiss cheese
S: somewhat dank, with hints of lemon, pine and lime, with notes of freshly cut grass present as well
T: first impression, not as bitter as I was expecting, so kudos to them for that as I think that too many people miss the point of a pils in the u.s. and try to make it an IPA, this is very grass and green, with a clean bitterness
M: the bitterness in the flavor (not painful but still present) gives this beer a pleasant and dry finish
O: I'm not a fan of American Pils, not because it's bad, but because it's not really what I'm looking for when I reach for a pils. That being said, this beer handles its american inclinations with gravitas and finesse and should be commended for that because greenpoint seems to understand the purpose of a Pilsner better than most. Is it good? Very much so. Would I personally seek it out? No.
