Picked this up at the Whole Foods in Williamsburg recently as I had the Tremendous a few years back and though that this would be the appropriate sequel to it. This was enjoyable, like many of Greenpoint's other offerings that I've had, but there seemed to be something missing here - dare I say that maybe it was orange?!?!???
The pour to this was decent as the liquid was a muted goldenrod with plenty of head topping it off. The lacing left behind was quite layered in the middle of my pint glass as the rings were nicely defined. Lots of fruit cocktail, Hawaiian Punch, and swamp water in the nose as the taste was just as dank, murky, and dark on the palate with some white grape, dewy grass and pine, melon, and cantaloupe on the palate. The feel was soft but the flavors were quite harsh, which might be fitting for a President that was unabashed and unpolished at the same time.
The malt was a cross between sweet and crystalline and the carbonation was lightly present enough to keep this from being too weighed down, as the alcohol was barely perceptible. Canned on 1/29 with "TWITTER I MISS YOU" written underneath it, this wasn't quite up to par with what I've had from these guys over the years but it was enjoyable enough and had their signature yeast underneath everything else going on here. Worth a try once for the label - even if you're one of the few people in these parts who miss 45...
