Served on-draught @ Majstor Za Pivo in Podgorica, Montenegro. Cost for 33cl was 1.85 euro. Reviewed from notes taken February 2016.
A: ~2cm wide head. White and fluffy. Leaves no lacing.
Body is copper colour and of average vibrance. No yeast can be seen.
Sm: Quite estery from the Belgian ale yeast - clove, spice, indistinct fruit. Malt backbone is mellow yet appropriately (I.e. Mildly) sweet. Suggests a soft nicely attenuated Belgian pale ale with nice depth of flavour.
Aroma is of above average vividness.
T: Belgian pale malts, estery Belgian yeast (with concomitant notes of clove and vague fruit), mild sweetness, and fruity Hops. Decently balanced, albeit a bit too sweet, with an inadequate hop profile for a Belgian pale; I find only vaguely fruity Hops and some generic floral hop character. Depth of flavour is merely average, as is flavour duration and intensity. Has some raw sugariness indicative of less than ideal attenuation.
Mf: Smooth, wet, somewhat soft, Overcarbonated, on the lighter side of medium-bodied, slightly coating. The overcarbonation is the biggest issue texture-wise. More softness would be a boon.
Not an ideal companion to the taste, failing to accentuate specific notes or to elevate the beer as a whole.
O: Very drinkable fare for a Serbian attempt at a Belgian pale, but surprisingly underhopped (in contrast to, say, American attempts at the style, which tend to direly overhop), and of limited complexity. More commitment to the hops and spicy yeast esters would be ideal. Warrants trying, but it's not the best expression of the style.
