Poured into a snifter from a 16 oz can. Color is deliciously dark, with an assertive head that lingers a bit.
The write-up on BA calls this an Imperial Stout...and, I don't know, perhaps that's the best categorization for it. At 11%, it's definitely "imperial" something. The color and density's definitely there, but the mouthfeel and weight don't seem particularly stout-y to me (and the can just calls it "ale"). Speaking of the can, here's how it describes it: BILL MURRAY INSPIRED ALE BREWED W/ LACTOSE, MAPLE SYRUP, COFFEE & FAT STACKS OF PANCAKES & WAFFLES. Clearly, there's a lot going on here. I taste the syrup first, but it isn't overwhelming by any stretch, and not as pronounced as others I've had with that flavor. (It's more Mrs. Butterworth than something tapped from a tree - but not in a bad way.) Then, surprisingly, I actually taste the pancakes & waffles (or at least the sweet batter). The coffee doesn't hit me at all, frankly, but maybe it's simply doing a yeoman's job of holding this tasty pastiche together. Like I said, there's a lot going on, but it all works splendidly.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
