This is a brand-new triple IPA from Stoneface (canned yesterday!) called Line of Sight. It features Topaz, Sultana, and Motueka hops, and that just sounds damn good.

Pour is just excellent. It tumbles out of the can as an orange liquid with dense saturation and a solid head of sparkling white foam that lingers for minutes on top. Despite the haze, it is bright and vibrant, which is really impressive considering just how turbid this looks. The lace it leaves behind is quite nice; tiered and patterned with an appreciable showing of legs as well. If you have enjoyed other modern opaque IPAs in the same style, this will certainly appeal to you.

The nose is right up my alley, so I immediately felt drawn to this one... it's redolent of intense guava and passion fruit with a dank element that just punches my nostrils straight away. This reminds me a lot of Toobz by this same brewer last year. It has a strong mango/citrus aspect that just won't quit, and I enjoy the focus on powerful tropical fruits. The Motueka is bringing out some lime here that I think kinda blends in with the other fruits, but which also ironically stands apart from everything else when it really counts, lending a sharp and acidic undertone that sets the beer apart.

On the tongue, there is a grassiness that underpins the experience, but the currant-like flavors pop out a bit once it warms, highlighting the Topaz addition. Motueka is really bringing the lime character here, and the pine resin from Sultana is doing a lot of work here. There's a lot going on, though, and I think the 10% ABV is helping bring out the complexity of this hop combo. Feel is very solid. It's very drinkable but also really bitter in the finish, so it'll probably be more satisfying to old-school hop heads that still love their new-school aromatics. What do you know? That's me!
