Snagged a couple of bottles of this yesterday at Stoneface, at $16 each.....
Pours a clear, vibrant chestnut-mahogany color. Shows some ruby-garnet as well when backlit. Hard-pour didn't bring forth too much suds, mainly a light tan, thin bit o' bubbles gathering around the rim. First whiff picks up some bourbon right off. Also has some vanilla and dark fruit, as well as being woody. It is smooth as silk on the tongue, with a solid medium body.
Flavor is quite pleasurable! Has caramel, brown sugar, light vanilla, and some oaky action. Nicely malty, with the bourbon notes wafting about, along with hints of black cherry. Semi-sweet notes linger well in the finish. Another solid Barleywine from Stoneface! Cheers!!
