500ml bottle from Asda, Enniskillen (£2):
Dark caramel coloured with a centimetre tall head & a couple of bubbles on the surface, this one was a clear bodied beer when held to the light & one that had a malty sweet nose; there was some nice caramel hints & touches of sugar to get things going before some toffee & bread malts made an appearance as well as a background hop bitterness. The taste was quite a sweet one too with some caramel & biscuit flavours alongside some bread towards the end of a well-carbonated & quite fizzy offering. There was a few dark fruits rounding things off with a toffee backing & the faintest touches of alcohol showed as well but it was still a relatively easy-going beer to drink thankfully.

500ml bottle bbe Mar 2016. Slightly chocalaty, Irish red ale. Alcohol well hidden. Nice but not enough hops for me.

On cask at the Hilden Beer Festival.
Pours oxblood with a thin loose head. Nose is port and leaf. Berry and rye malts to start with cocoa in the middle and a bite of herb at the end. A bit thin.
A chocolately Irish red - light but interesting. Again, why do Hilden keep all their best beers at home?

On cask at the Belfast Beer Festival
Pours with rich copper body, some burgandy and red hues. Fizzy patchy off white head with good retention
Smell, some biscuity malt, some sulphurous notes, little sign of hop aroma. A few esters also
Taste, crisp and slightly over carbonated mouthfeel, some burnt sugar, touch of figs, mainly a huge whack of bready malt, little bitterness, slight warming alcohol on the finish
Very disappointing, off flavours, overcarbonation and an overall lack of flavour and balance prevent this from being a decent beer
