Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Picked up at the brewery about 2.5 months ago. The can has been in my fridge since the purchase.
Beer pours a rich cola brown color with nice fluffy beige head of 3 cm foaming up and fading gradually after the pour. Sticks around as a sturdy surface layer and some clingy lattice. Nice looking beer in my glass.
Aroma is chocolate malts, some roasted grains, and dry bakers chocolate. I keep thinking some spicy rye notes, but dont think rye is in the grain bill. No hops and the booze is well hidden, even at a higher ABV.
First sip reveals a medium body with very fine and tingly carbonation. Texture is smooth and drinks easy, does leave a bit of a coating after each swallow, but isnt syrupy or sticky.
Flavor is some roasted malt and toasted grains, again dry bakers chocolate mixes in and gets a little bitter on the swallow. No hop presence and not really any hints of ABV, which is dangerous for a 10.5% brew!
This is an enjoyable brown ale, pretty big kick that drinks easy for its size. Not a bad beer from these guys.

Had this on draft at Local in South Norwalk. Great interpretation of a brown ale. Imperial means ABV in this case, but drinkability is high thanks to the crisp mouthfeel and lack of alcohol burn.
Laces like a champ, head formed easily and receded in a couple of minutes. Wonderful licorice aroma coupled with sweet malts to give the distinctive brown ale flavor profile. Malt cling on the lips is appropriate for the style.
I hope Stubborn Beauty continues to brew this beer for area bars and restaurants.
