Sampling a cellar temp bottle of this beer. Im pouring into a snifter. The beer was part of a trade.
Pop the cap, and its a gusher....yikes. Quick reflex and I only lose about an oz. The beer pours into the glass with a rocky dense khakhi head foaming up 5 cm with no effort. Foam fades slowly leaving pockmarked craters and some tight latticework. The aroma on this beer is some coffee with a little bit of burnt roasted malt and some chocolate milk notes. I keep getting banana as well which I dont think is supposed to be there.
First sip reveals a smooth textured medium body with fine tingly carbonation. I find similar flavors as the nose advertised with dark chocolate and some coffee grounds. I also get a little vanilla and brown sugar. There is also a bit of a metallic flavor which may be why this gushed on opening. The lingering coffee ground bitterness is expected and the beer is drinkable, but I dont get any bourbon and it seems like the beer is on the verge of falling apart. glad to have tried it and hope no one is sitting on these long term as I think the experiment will be a failure. Color me disappointed here.
