First to review this beer...wow! Picked up at the brewery after my first COVID vaccine about 1 week ago. Pouring from a 500 ml bottle into my snifter.
The beer pours a very dark cola brown color with deep garnet highlights on the edges of the glass when I hold it to the light.
A fizzy khaki colored head of almost 2 cm foams up and fades rapidly to a thin surface layer and clingy edge lacing. I do get some dense lacing when I swirl my glass.
The aroma on this beer is fairly robust and is pretty boozy even for an 11% brew! I get some brown sugar and toffee, white grape vinous character, some dark fruit, raisin and plum and a bit of mild black tea hop scent.
First sip reveals a medium to light body, fairly slick texture and fine tingly carbonation. Beer drinks too easy for an 11% ABV brew. Watch your step with this one!
Flavor is also rich and malty up front with toffee and some brown sugar, I also get some raisins again and then this rolls to some herbal tea character and a bit of bitey booze. I dont get a lot or warming on the finish here, but just a boozy black peppery flavor at the end.
Overall this is a pretty solid barleywine and dangerously drinkable I think too. Worth a pickup if in CT and you like bigger beers.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
