I added a vintage Singularity to the site after looking back at my review of the 2016 version, which featured coconut and was 14%.
This 2020 version is 12% and is a double chocolate version in a 16 oz can, picked up at the brewery a few weeks ago. Pouring at cellar temp into my snifter. the beer pours a dark cola brown color with a rocky and frothy tan head that almost tops my glass. This foams fades to a thin edge layer and one large wispy island on the surface.
Aroma is as expected and appropriately, dark chocolate, fudge brownie and light roasted malt notes. It doenst really smell boozy nor do I get any hop character on the nose. Seems right for a "double chocolate" imperial stout.
The first sip reveals a medium to thick body with sticky and chewy texture, very fine gentle carbonation that only activates when I swirl the beer in my mouth.
The flavor is some sweet fudge, but much more dark chocolate, almost bakers chocolate notes with hints of bitter cacao nib type chocolate flavor. I also get some roasted malts here and a little charred wood. Still no hops and no hint of ABV warmth or other symptoms. Dangerous at 12%!
A nice solid Imp Stout. I have a 2019 bottle to compare in the near future. Good big imperial stout from a local spot.
