Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug. Picked up at the brewery on a recent CT brewery run with my brother. Canning date was 5/2021. Label game with the Stubborn Beauty cans could be improved, lets see how the beer is.
Popping the can gets a slow gush and the pour is very foaming with a creamy tan head that causes me to pour in two attempts. The beer pours a dark cola brown and the foam fades to a sturdy edge layer and some scattered surface islands.
Aroma is roasted malt notes and some dark chocolate mixing with a little bit of raisin. No hop presence and not particularly boozy either.
First sip reveals a medium body with fine tingly carbonation and a bit of a slick mouthfeel. The beer flavor is roasted malts and some brown sugar. I do get an almost charred note on the finish, with no hints of hops nor abv anywhere. The beer drinks really easy for 8%.
Its a fine beer, but I would like a little more dark fruit notes to go with the heavy roasted flavor.
