This medium-bodied American IPA is hopped to perfection. The slightly sweet malt backbone is balanced by aromatic floral, citrus peel and pine.
It's the eight-oh-three from SC, the IPA from Cola way- it's so good it makes water thirsty.

On draft at the brewery, in shaker pint glass
Clear golden color, white head. Good head retention. Well rounds and pleasant citrus, pine, grassy, floral hop aroma. Similar flavor, fairly dry and bitter. Short finish. Medium bodied

Gold and clear with white head about 2-3 fingers. Great lacing and carbonation. Nose is light; some subtle honeydew and orange. Flavor is bold and complex, but maybe not well balanced. Some herb, some pithy citrus, some funk, and a lot of bitterness. Mouthfeel is a little prickly and you feel the alcohol. This is a rugged IPA.

A: The beer is crystal clear dark golden yellow in color and has a moderate column of bubbles rising from the center of the glass. It poured with a short off white head that left a short head consistently covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of herbal hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, having flavors of herbal hops along with hints of citrus and pine. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA is quite herbal and quite unlike most other beers in the style.

Beer pours a slightly-hazy deep gold with a HUGE, fluffy white head. Smell is weird; the biggest note I can detect is an off-note. There is a TON of flavor in this, though I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of it. Extreme citrus (including some pithiness as well), and then HUGE bitterness on the back end. I almost chalked that up to different and more piney hops, but I think a lot of it is the 7.3% ABV. Either way, I'm not sure about the sweet malt backbone they claim, but for those looking for an aggressive hop-forward IPA, this might well be for you. Mouthfeel is relatively heavy, and I think the alcohol has a lot to do with that.

-orange-amber tap pour with a deep haze. The aroma is faintly citrus. The favor is pine and some lemon with a distinctly sour funk. I really like it, but it is not noted in other reviews here so I'm guessing that my pour may be a unique situation. -liking it nonetheless!

Color is good, nose is good, flavor is not so good. While one expects an IPA to be bitter, this is a not so great bitter flavor. The bitterness carries on and on and on.....

Appearance: orange in color with a 1/2" head that recedes quickly.
Smell: some citrus is barely detectable here.
Taste: caramel, biscuit, grapefruit, some lemon zest, and a bit of piney bitterness.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Crisp throughout.
Overall: a bit unbalanced in flavor profile as the bitterness had a bite to it.
