Very cool spot just off the main drag. Tasting room is to the left of the entry and has a U-shaped bar that seats about 15 with a few tables inside and out. Stage in the far back corner for live music. 16 well assorted beers on tap, I had Mamma's Smile, and Grin & Bear It, both very nice. Bartender was very beer knowledgeable and personable, and I had a great time hanging out with a few locals talking beer. Very fun time.

The VB Brewery moved to a new taproom (160 School Street in Victor) a little over a week ago and their new setup is quite nice. They have 13 beers on tap (including one nitro line) at a time and when they run out, they put another beer into the rotation right away - which is how I got to try 14 beers during my visit. They offer pints or sampler flights (four 5-oz pours). The flights are $5. Or if you're like me, you ask to try them all and get basically a half pour of each beer. Major props for accommodating my desire to try all their beer! Plus the owners are super cool and it looked like they were making a point of chatting with everyone there.

They're still brewing at the old location so unfortunately I couldn't see the brewing operations which is usually one of my favorite things to do at microbreweries. They'll be moving operations to the new location in another month or two according to Tom (co-owner, head brewmaster). Oh well, guess that means I'll have to stop by again next time I'm in town.

As for the actual beer, it ranged from average to very good (the Belgian dubbel was my favorite). Right now they use a 50-gallon system which means they brew a LOT of different styles and one-off batches. Tom said they've done over 100 different recipes since opening a year and a half ago. Eventually they're going to move to a bigger-batch system which will mean less variety/one-off batches (which Tom isn't looking forward to) but might mean they focus more on their best recipes and might not be a terrible thing. Although it was pretty fun to sample 14 beers in one visit. :D

All in all, a cool place that I wish I could visit more often!

Went out to visit this new brewery, 2 months old, this weekend.

In the middle of an industrial park outside of Victor. Their small brewing system, along with blue plastic fermenting barrels, are right next to the tasting bar. Kind of a stark look, but there is some local art along the walls. They had a rustic, cool looking bourbon barrel (Heaven Hill) on one wall, that was housing a porter. 8 seats or so along the V-shaped bar, plus 3-4 high-top tables near the fermenting barrels.

12 beers on tap, so lots of good stuff to try. The beers were all good, but with no real standouts or knock your socks off selections. The Belgian Dubbel, Smoked Porter, Brunette Ale, and Apollo Cream Ale were the winners- all very good, and I would order them again. The rest were a bit boring and/or watery.

Husband and wife team running the place- they were very nice, and very helpful, and very knowledgeable. Both were able to talk to and keep conversation with all of the patrons (10 at the time I went).

$4 for a flight of 4 beers (4 oz each). We tried everything, so $12 for 3 pints, essentially. Good prices. $12 for a growler fill.

Will definitely come back here again in a few months to see if they have worked out the kinks. Very promising brewery, with a few really good selections.
