If you like a stout that's full bodied and packed with flavor then this one's for you. Half of the grist in this brew is comprised of either caramel or roasted malts creating a complex, chewy, chocolatey delight. It's like a meal in a mug!

Very strong offering from Gun Hill. Pitch black color with a finger of mocha colored foam. Smoke and toasted malt in the aroma with hints of stone fruit. Taste has more smokiness and a touch of hop bitterness. Rich yet not overly heavy mouthfeel.

On tap at The Golden Rail. From notes.
Pours darkest brown almost black, a couple fingers of thick tan head. Nice lace coats the glass as the head relaxes to a lasting skim.
Tart yeast, bitter roast, herbal and floral hops, some toffee sweet in there too. Not strong, but tasty smell.
Yeast tart and toffee start the sip, which picks up some sharp roasty notes, as well as some of the more mocha flavors of lighter roast, The hops in this are so laid back it is hard to pick them from the bitter of the roast. but as it warms the tart starts to lessen, the sharpness of the roast mellows a tad, and the floral and herbal hops end the sip semi dry.
Low carb. med. body, roasty finish that improves as the liquid opens up. Well suited to frame the flavors.
Very nice English Stout, the yeastiness is a welcome flavor in an America filled with stouts done with neutral yeast. Tasty, simple, bright, refreshing.
