Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a fairly dark brown color with a semi-foamy off white little head. Not much lace, somewhat stringy. The aroma had some cocoa powder, dried nuts, light earthiness and a subtle leafy dryness. The flavor was moderately sweet pulling some faint leather-like sweet tones in and sliding over my tastebuds in a decent way. Not much aftertaste but had a little bit of a sly earthy to leather to cocoa powder finish. The palate was about medium bodied with a sessionability that made me re-think what that term really meant. I mean, well, the dryness and the leather in this one was somewhat hard to really to want to pound this one. And I would think given the ABV that this one would be fairly crushable. Overall, as a brown ale fan, I’m not entirely sure this is a brown ale that I can have all of the time.

The underlyng flavors were quite pleasant but ruined by a giant dose of diacytyl. I'll have to try this again sometime soon because it seems like it would be a pretty awesome beer without it.
