Our modern rendition of an indigenous American style. Brewed with traditional distillers grains, rye, barley, and corn, along with specialty malts. Kettle soured for days, fermented, then aged in Long Island Spirits Bourbon barrels. Deep burnt red in tone with a firm lactic sourness, and rich malt flavors of whiskey-laced mixed berries, burnt sugar, vanilla, and toasted bread with honey.

i thought this beer was awesome, something really quite unconventional, gorgeous ruby to mahogany color and a rising tan head. cool clarity and glow to it, very pretty deep amber brightness. aroma is sweet like mixed berries and toffee, i get more funk than sourness, but not overly wild, more like a blended ale with a little tart cherry or something to it but not particularly sour to me. lots of grain here, some richer crystal malt, maybe some rye, faint peppery notes which are nice with the oak thats happening, bourbon and caramel and port wine all at once, a curious fruit profile which i cant quite make sense of, golden raisin, not quite ripe strawberry, even peach or peach candy, it comes on right in the middle and lingers a bit, oak and a wild element at the end, cognac, a little sweet, very complex, very good. i expected this to be more boozy and intense, but its very drinkable for being barrel aged. cherry and vanilla and whiskey, good carbonation, not too much body, impressive depth of flavor and refinement in a style that can go a lot of different ways. great beer. i have like everything i have had so far from gun hill.

On-draught @ Gun Hill Brewing.

Caramel colour body. Off-white head.

Wine-like, with mild acidity and traces of acetic acid. Sourness is timid - maybe a 2-3/10 in terms of intensity.

Pale malt and caramalt. Possibly biscuit or even English otter.

Medium-bodied. Smooth. Unrefreshing. Wet. Well-carbonated. Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, or harsh.

Drinkable albeit underwhelming. I wouldn't get this again. Not a good sour, not a bad sour.
