Overall a nice change for a red ipa. it will be something distinct but will not fully impress. Being different is a plus but quality still needs some improvement. Overall look and feel i was fine with but the smell was lacking. Taste wise it does put you into the pacific northwest with hints of coffee and pine. The real call out here is the amount of floral i received. tone that down and increase the woodsy meets coffee tones and you are good to go. I imagine this going well with pie:)

This one pours a fairly dark red, with a small white head and lots of lacing.
This smells really quite nice, with rider, brown crusty bread, espresso, resinous pine, and grapefruit rind.
This is an absolutely wonderful surprise. The malt character is super killer here, which is surprising for a hoppy beer. There's lot of toffee and baked brown bread, with a hint of coffee, too. I bet this would taste great with coffee added. The hop character is secondary, but still delicious. There's a delicious clean bitterness- like what I imagine a tree in the coastal Pacific Northwest would taste like. There's a lot of floral character and a bit of sweet-ish grapefruit. This works really well for me.
This is creamy and rich, with a good level of carbonation.
I am pleasantly surprised. This is frankly excellent.

A: Poured from the can into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. Body is turbid brown, with some particulate visibly floating in the beer. A small ivory head settles on top. Beer reminds me of Victory Yakima Glory (anyone remember that one?) in appearance.
S: Not a strong nose, and what I'm getting doesn't impress: some wet cardboard, toffee malt and a hint of pine.
T: Not sure what's going on here: fruity and coffee-like at the same time. Leafy tobacco. Finishes with a significant bitterness that seems to come from hops at first and then undercooked coffee beans, with maybe a bit of wood tannins. Really not sure what they were going for here. Lingering bitterness.
M: OK, I guess. Hard to get past the taste and subsequent bitterness to really get a sense of the feel.
O: Not so thrilled to have paid nearly $5 for this can.
