Decanted from a 16 oz (473 ml) can into a custom Sam Adams taster pint; no production information (although there often is on the bottom of the can at GHBC).
A: Pours a hazy, golden-orange color with a slightly less than one finger, off-white head, rim retention, and gorgeously complex Belgian lacing.
S: Aromas of lime, candied yams, tangerine, caramel, with a pine note. Caramelized component quite inviting.
T: Sweet to semisweet. Flavor profile follows the nose. No question that it is an AIPA, but remarkably mild and balanced for the style. Solid, almost minty bitterness nicely balancing the sweetness and fruitiness.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
O: Really a delicious take on the AIPA style. Third IPA I have had from Gun Hill and color me impressed. The can art is great and brings me back to my many, many years as a subway rat.
