A balanced IPA bursting with tropical, bright citrus, and berry notes that is unmistakably hop-forward yet friendly and inviting.

On draught at Frontier Brewing and Taproom.
Pours a brilliantly clear gold with small head of foam, some lacing.
The smell is grassy, light pine lemon.
The taste has grass and pine the latter almost needle like. Malt is subdued. Perhaps toasted?
Medium body and carbonation.

the least impressive of the luminous beers i had this weekend, it seems light and less flavorful than it ought to be, and not quite up to the level of the others in terms of both creativity and execution. pale malt base, a little light in taste and feel, and a little bitter on the hop front for the kind of drinkability i like in the style, but no off flavors or anything, its not flawed, just a bit samey and underwhelming. they had quite a bit of other hoppy stuff on the menu, and i am wishing now i gave them a try. i like the refreshment here, nice and dry, well carbonated, light in body, and pleasantly punchy in the finish, but it tastes like a million other small brewery usa ipa types, failing to distinguish itself from the crowded field. a larger dry hopping and a minor scaling back of the bittering hops would improve this drastically, but i can see it in the context of a community that is still turning on to craft beer. perhaps a west coast danky or a southern hemisphere floral fruit salad of an ipa would not go over too well just yet. these guys obviously know what they are doing, so i will chalk this one up to them knowing their market. looking forward to their other hoppy beers next visit.
