A snifter full of blackness is placed in front of me. A tan head floats atop it. Scattered lace remains clinging afterwards.
Smell is exactly like those chocolate candy "oranges". Sweet, Tootsie roll chocolate, orange, maybe a whiff of malt.
Taste is more polarizing. Bitter orange pith, chocolate, light malt, a serious medicinal note that lingers.
Less than medium body, sharp, almost metallic carbonation. Dry finish doesn't really suit this addition to the Bell Cow line. Still, dunking animal crackers in it is really good.
Sadly, warming does it no favors. It gets more bitter/medicinal, even harsh. I had to leave 1/3 of it in the glass. My rating reflects this reality.
