An Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in Siesta Key Spiced Rum Barrels as part of an ongoing collaboration between JDub's Brewing and Drum Circle Distilling. These barrels previously held our "Esperanza", "San Cristobal", and "Miguel" along with new Spiced Rum in between each beer to replenish the barrels. This Barrel Aged Imperial Stout is thick, full bodied with tasting notes of Cinnamon, Oak, Roasted Malt and Chocolate.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a pitch black color. The spiced rum barrels are immediately evident in the nose along with cinnamon and chocolate. The taste is sweet up front with cinnamon, bittersweet chocolate, and a lingering warmth and booziness from the high ABV and spiced rum barrels. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, maybe a tad bit thinner than I'd want for this type of beer. Overall, a really solid brew that was perfect for the occasion (Christmas Eve). I have a feeling this beer would age wonderfully.
