Clear golden amber with a modest mustache of foam. Fine-grained lacing coats the Stella Artois goblet. Lightly carbonated but creamy mouthfeel with a nice prickle.
Flavor is rather malty with a warm, slightly sweet taste. Hints of Hefeweizen but mostly a soft, rich maltiness that is balanced with a dry, tangy note. The Belgian yeasty flavors are just right for this light brew. There doesn't seem to be an exact category but so many people are brewing what they call a Belgian Blonde. There's not much hop presence in any case.
This is one great idea for how a light beer should be brewed. It's quite flavorful for the modest alcohol content, and the malty mouthfeel and creamy carbonation make it totally enjoyable. From the growler purchased at the brewery in Seattle's South Park neighborhood.
