A French-styled, copper-colored beer with pronounced malty sweetness and notes of toffee and dried fruits.

On tap at Defiant Brewing. A lovely soft beer, nice flavor having absolutely nothing to do with biere de gardes. Perhaps an English Pale....

Served in an Imperial pint glass at The Quarry in Tuckahoe, NY.
A: Pours a hazy amber to light copper with a half inch, creamy, light tan head, solid retention and lacing.
S: Fruity bouquet, more lemon than pear, although oddly a berry note, and spicy with increasing tartness as it warms
T: Caramel with only a fruit note, which is hard to characterize (perry or raspberry?). Bitterness very nicely balanced against malt.
M: Remarkably light bodied for an 8.5% ABV. Solidly carbonated and refreshing.
O: Color me impressed. Light and subtle despite high ABV. Bravo!
