This is one exceptional beer. Went through several growlers. Nice dark brown with a light brown head. Decent head and lacing.
Nose is sweet and malty. Light notes of dark fruits.
Taste reminds me of one of my all time favs, Aventinus. Dark caramel, lots of roasted dark malts but it has the doppelbock like lightness to it. I asked because I thought there might be wheat malt to lighten it but no. Great yeast component as there is a distinctive raisin, banana, clove thing going on. Love it. No trace of the alcohol. Clean finish with a bit of lingering sweetness.
Nice full carbonation with bit of chewiness.
Great beer. A collaboration and a such. May not show up again. Most unfortunate as this is one that should be a regular offering.

A: Clear, dark espresso brown. Light cream colored head. Not much retention.
S: Evenly balanced between roast and espresso malt and peppery phenols. Very little fruit, figs or bananas.
M: Medium body, a touch creamy. Drier finish, well-carbonated.
T: Dried black currants, light clove and banana. The moderately sweet and balanced beginning transitions to a roastier, toastier charred, bitter finish. A bit unbalanced. It's either sweet or spicy/bitter with very little interplay.
