This tropical and juicy triple IPA is chock full of Citra and Mosaic hops. Hop-forward, bitter, and aggressive, this beer is balanced with notes of evergreen. For a big brew with a 12.2% ABV, this beer is remarkably smooth with only a hint of alcohol warmth.

Appearance: Pours with a three finger head that refuses to budge; copious lacing; the liquid is amber colored and almost translucent

Smell: Layers in the aroma from the biscuity malts, the fruity tones (berry and melon) and the grapefruit

Taste: Malt forward, with a honeyed biscuit base; the berry and melon flavors emerge early, followed by the grapefruit; the hops and malts battle it out but ulimately the hops emerge dominant in the finish; sharp bitterness in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation; some warmth in the gullet

Overall: A bit too malty to my taste but this is an old school triple IPA for those who like that style; the aftertaste also fails to appeal

Decanted from a 16 oz (473 ml) can into a muffin top pint glass; no production information.
A: Pours a slightly hazy, light amber color with a three to four finger head, amazing retention, and complex lacing.
S: Fruity with aromas of orange and grapefruit, as well as caramel, honey, and some pine.
T: Semisweet. Palate follows nose but caramel, honey, and pine components stand out with a distinct citrus Pixie Stix® taste. Bitterness solid but not overpowering. Alcohol burn quite there.
M: Full bodied with strong carbonation. Strong alcohol burn.
O: a celebratory drink if ever there were one.

A growler from the brewery. A thick and dense creamy head that fades slowly and leaves lots of lace as I drink. Impressive fur a brew of this abv. Deep golden amber liquid. Quite clear.

Nose is delightful. Sweet bready malt, multi layered hop profile. Grapefruit and mild tropicals. Mango and guava mostly. Light peppery booze.

Taste follows suit, depending on temperature. When cool versus cold it's at its best. Big broad malt backbone expresses bread and sweet malt sugars. Some toasted grains to round it out. Major hops follow. Lots of grapefruit and orange. Mild undercurrent of mango and guava. Hop oil lingering in the finish, but not for long. Just enough to elongate a relatively clean, dry, and short finish. Surprisingly the alcohol is so well Integrated that it's a non entity.

Feel is real surprise here. While a bit heavy on the tongue, it goes down like a much lighter beer. Carbonation is well done, mildly effervescent when first poured it mellows into an ever present tingliness as it warms. Supple and smooth with each sip.

An unbelievably drinkable beer. Delicious and dangerous. I'll keep getting more until it's gone

Notes via stream of consciousness: Wow, this is 12.2% ABV? I wasn't expecting that. I have no idea what the LIC stands for in the name but I guess that doesn't matter. It's poured a mostly clear deep golden body beneath a full head of densely foam off-white. It's a shame it's not perfectly clear, but whatever. I'm getting sweet grapefruit in the nose - very nice! There's also some berry, orange, and mango. I'm excited to dive right in. The taste follows with similar citrusy and otherwise tropical fruitiness from the hops over a sweet, basic, grainy maltiness. A solid bitterness balances it, and it finishes dry with a lingering bitter note. The alcohol is present, lending a touch of heat and spiciness, but I'd say it's both expected and pleasant here. I still have a solid, creamy, eight inch of head and there's some really nice lacing left behind which is pretty impressive for a beer of its strength. In the mouth it's full bodied and creamy across the tongue. Once again I am impressed by a beer from Broken Bow! Nicely done.
