my first from these guys, maybe my first from hong kong overall, a really solid stout that has obviously carbonated up quite a lot in the bottle over the time its been in there, but i found that aspect quite flattering, rarely is stout ever this lively, and i think its nice. its really effervescent without losing any of the richer oaty texture that i want in a beer like this, so a really surprising and fun mouthfeel to this, intentional or not. the dark grains are nice in here, have quite a bit of coffee character to them, medium roast without the usual accompanying bitterness, some dark chocolate there too, even a bit of dark berry, dried blueberry or blackberry, a neat little wrinkle. the smoothness is great here, the balance and simplicity too, and overall this is quite a well made and refined drink, a little english flare to the yeast which i have always liked in a stout, a touch of smoke too, and a tiny bit of finishing sweetness too to round it out. pretty standard for the style, but the high carbonation makes it unique. an enjoyable beer, id be curious to try more from these guys!

By far my favorite of the HKBC offering.
A: Very dark brown like molasses but still transparent thin creamy head but relatively good retention (3/3)
S: Metallic and lightly smoky dark malt aroma with a little bit of dark chocolate (8/12)
T: Dark chocolate continues but not overpowering a medium bitterness on finish and generally a solid well rounded stout (16/20)
M: Well-carbonated for a stout but lighter body than I'm used to nice slightly dry finish (4/5)
O: A nice light and drinkable stout though I'd ask for a little more creaminess and a little more flavor overall but otherwise can't fault it (7/10)
