i think this is the only beer, maybe the double ipa too, that i would order again from declaration. its really the most inventive and the best executed, i think it was their first. so infrequently do we see a malt driven beer with belgian yeast. its always just the yeast, or the yeast and the hops, or the yeast and just some white wheat, but no crystal malt with belgian yeast, not going anywhere near the depth of a dubbel or anything, but it puts the grain and the yeast together in a cool way. it smells and tastes like almost a wit type strain, as spicy as it is belgian in the traditional sense, and the grain adds body and sweetness, but the beer stays real light. i like it, its almost english malty, which never sees belgian yeast. i like the fusion, i like the sessionability, and i like that there is in fact a unique beer at this place. i could drink this one by the pitcher, hopefully some of the others catch up, but this is excellent.
