12 oz. Can
ABV: 8.25%
Poured into a tulip a pretty nice slightly hazy golden yellow color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, peach), oatmeal. The taste is hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerin, peach), oatmeal. Medium body, ABV is hidden fairly well, with a dry/bitter finish. Overall, tasty, quite different take on the style.

This was a strange one. It had these tropical type hop aromas and yet I swear oat was in the aroma. It was definitely in the flavor and also affected the mouthfeel. I prefer oat in a stout not an IPA.

at first sip, i really didnt like this pale ale colored beer, it just had a tangy tannic thing going on and a real generic hop profile, but after a few sips and some temperature increase, it grew on my quite a bit. its got a weird nose though, almost sloppy, it smells bitter for sure, but also has a slight metallic tang to it thats not nice, and it translates into the flavor just a bit. the hops are intense, but not real unique. i can appreciate a good run of the mill hoppy beer, but the oats make this different. it has a ton of body because of them, even starchy at times, soapy in feel, and a little lingering sweetness. i have a theory that something in oats is sweet but not readily fermentable normally, and its demonstrated again here. the finish is long and bitter primarily, and the beer feels rich and saturating in the belly. one is plenty for me, and i think they may be on to something, but i compare this to something similar at wits end, and this isnt even close to that in overall quality. they get a free pass for being new though.
