the beer really has gotten better in here, i seem to like it more and more each time i go in. this is a well made stout, shiny obsidian black in the glass with an airy light brown head on it that fades slowly. aroma shows some deep dark bitter roasted grain, but also quite a lot of sweetness, a sort of long boiled concentrated crystal malt richness to the middle of this thats there in the flavor too, more than balancing the darkest parts of the grain, making this even a little sweet for the style, but its nice in cold weather and has both the body and the depth of flavor needed for the style this time of year. dark chocolate and a leathery note to it, molasses and toffee too, a lightly burnt or ashy thing in the finish, clean on the fermentation. round smooth expansive body, enough carbonation, and a trace of smoke when it warms up way in the background. overall a relatively basic example of the style, but a well made beer that certainly checks all the boxes. its nice to have some more straightforward beers in here with all the weird ones they do...

On tap at the brewery. Typical stout appearance. Heavy malt aroma, hints of chocolate but overwhelming roasted malt. Same for the flavor. A decent stout but something was just a tad not to my liking.
