a better beer than it gets credit for, although i think their quality has improved a lot in the last year or so, and a lot of the cans are drinking better now than they ever have, so maybe some of the old scores here do no reflect recent improvements, thats what i suspect. this is a decidedly old school pale ale, not designed to be overly complex or dry hoppy, and not afraid to employ a little grain, which seems to be going extinct in the style. i wouldnt quite call this english style pale ale, but it has a little of that balanced maltiness to it, which i quite appreciate in this day and age, i fear it wont be around forever. the hops do have some bitterness, in fact almost as much as they do flavor, and if there is an obvious critique here its that the hops are lost a little to the crystal malt in this. light toasted and nutty properties to the grain but it isnt sweet. the body is roundly medium, carbonation is high, and this has a certain completeness to it that i like. i wouldnt call it super drinkable, and it doesnt warm up all that great, but its better than its ratings and a mark of a step in the right direction for these guys, who seem to have cooked a whole pound of spaghetti and threw it at the wall without a single strand sticking when they opened up, its been better and better since then...

cool looking can from a new Denver brewery- always looking to increase my pale ale lineup during the summer months.

L: light gold, nice head retention and clarity

S: Grainy, feint grassy hops, some butter (diacetyl may be at play here?) Plastic, not attractive

T: initially strange malt/ hop combo, plastic, butter, oxidized, feint hops, strange malts, Not very drinkable, could barely finish.

F: medium bodied, oily mouthfeel

O: Not a very good first offering for me here. Not sure if this is a bad batch or if this is how the beer is truly meant to taste, but I'm not into it.
