definitely one of the better hoppy beers i have had from these guys, deep golden to brass in color and dripping with hop intensity. through the frothing white head i smell pineapple and pine, white grape and kiwi fruit, and a sweet floral honey stickiness, really robust for the modest abv, smells oily and bitter and pretty dramatic really. the malt base is simple here, seemingly not quite enough heft or character to account for the abv, which probably means there was a dextrose spike in the boil, although i dont know that for sure, more body to balance off some of the hop harshness would be nice, but this isnt way out of whack or anything, and i actually like how robust these hops are. tough to place the varietals they have used in it, but they have notes of pineapple for sure, spruce and new oak, tangerine peel, and just a ton of oily bitterness, very west coasty in flavor, and lingering long on the tongue after the swallow. im not sure i want to drink more than one maybe two of these, but i like the hop complexion a lot and think its a nice step forward for these guys, who have not impressed me with hoppy beers before now...
