hands down the worst of the beers i had here at declaration on my recent visit. in fact, it was the only one that wasnt good. unique yes, but thats not always a positive, and this case its downright amateur, the first wild beer i can remember from these guys, looks like they dont quite have it figured out yet. the brett in here is stinky, old cheese, socks, its yucky, feels wrongly dosed, underdeveloped, and off, and it actually tastes a little worse than it smells. its a shame because there are still things to like here, but the brett ferment is not even close. there is a barrel element here, new woody, and thats kind of nice, gives it a vanilla note and a little sweetness. there is also a belgian essence here, green pear and white grape, but thats all being way to kind to a beer that has notes of the liquid that accumulates at the bottom of my recycling bin. i dont know if its just immature, oddly infected, or what the deal is here, but a wiser brewer would not have released this. i was really impressed with how far these guys had come since i last went in here sometime last year, but this seems like a step backwards in their progression. innovation is nice if you know what youre doing, this one misses the mark pretty wildly for me...
