Absolutely loaded with hops, this Imperial IPA can seem quite intimidating, but take one sip and you’ll see how it earned its name.
- Named after Wayne Gretzky, aka “The Great One”
- The ABV and IBU are in honor of Wayne Gretzky’s now retired jersey number, 99.
- Hops: Chinook, El Dorado, Cascade, Fuggle, Nugget, Saaz
- Malty and full bodied to balance out the strong hop presence for an easy drinking beer
- Sweet caramel notes and a slight roasted quality due to the strong malt presence
- Dry finish

Bottle from Green Mountain Liquor. A bit of a gusher, but settled down to a hazy amber body with small,, creamy head. Aroma is a pleasant blend of malt and hops, taste comes in favoring the malts by a tad. Hops remain in the background, or behind the net in this case, but finish it off with a bit of bite. Cheers to Wayne!

This beer is a solid and hoppy strong American IPA. I had it at a hamburger place on a bike ride and it was the ideal fuel to take me home. The 9,9% abv works very well with the hoppy and clean flavor for a great afternoon refuel.

Diacetyl Bomb! Beer is dark amber. It smells and taste like butter. Mouthfeel is stinging. Nothing “great” about this one.

Deep amber colored body; very dense, rocky, spongy head. Cross between toasted and roasted grain base; caramel. Estery fruitiness to the flavor, sitting atop a mild caramel malt base; alcohol presence but not too intrusive. Medium-heavy body; a bit slick and smooth; boozy warmth.
A respectable DIPA, a tad sweet and fruity with a slight boozy edge.

Thanks goes out to Buck89 for this brew.
12 oz. Can
My first from this brewery.
Poured into a tulip a pretty nice hazy amber color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, mango, peach), nice pineyness. The taste is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, mango, peach), nice sweetness, nice chewyness, pretty nice pine note. Full Body, ABV is hidden pretty nice with this one, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a very nice brew. Thanks John!

On tap into a pint glass. Moderately hazy amber color with a modest off white head. Aroma was mainly pine and orange, somewhat nondescript. The taste followed with bitter grapefruit pith balanced nicely with pine and resin. Crisp for such a big beer. A bit hot on the finish but again nice for one this size. Overall a very good DIPA but not a standout.

I love the 4 sons red and several of their other offerings.
But:
This beer's only redeeming quality is that if you can choke it down, it brings a 9.9% clobber.
Rotting fruity esters, and rank floral arrangements are present, with a smattering of stale pez and acrid "county fair" vomit.
I should add: this was the canned version.
