Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a slightly hazy red-orange with a half finger off-white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of whiskey, light caramel malt, mild cherry and berry fruit; exactly what I'd expect from a red ale with whiskey barreling. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, berries, whiskey, hints of citrus and light hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. The base beer tastes like a classic red ale with berry and mild citrus fruit with an overlay of decent whiskey; well balanced and flavorful. Less citrus and hoppy than other red ales, and while not complex, great flavor. Delivers exactly what it promises in a tasty package. ABV well covered. I'll check out more from this new small brewery.
