This amber-hued IPA is bold and complex with hop flavors of tropical fruit and pine. Its full malt body balances the subtle hop bitterness to create waves of flavor. Join the Groundswell.

Rated it when we were in Coos Bay back in 2018. Very good beer, On the menu this is listed at 70IBU 7.4% - a massively fruity IPA, so much to it could come off a little too sweet. Not a bad but damn I can imagine this would leave you with a bad behind the eyes the next day. The fruitiness is primarily tropical with a little orange rind bitterness.

Growler fill from TJ's Pub & Grill in Port Orford, OR;
64oz growler poured into an Arch Rock
Belgian-style tulip
P- clear amber w/ a small white cap; uncommon color for an ipa these days- I dig it
n- soft-med; bright hops; floral/citrus; perfumy notes; sweet toasted malt
t- huge profile follows the nose; perfumy floral, juicy citrus (grapefruit), and peel notes; dry, yet sticky (elements almost akin to a red ale); hearty malt backbone supports; a lot going on here, but it works; light-med bitterness in the finish
mf- prickly dry forward; slightly chewy, sticky finish; med-full bodied; med carb level
o- hit all the right notes for me; an enjoyable, solidly-crafted IPA

1st review of this beer on BA. Had this summer of 2018 while passing through. Glad it was a quick stop given the terrible (slow) service on a not busy day.
Right away the color of the beer is suspect. Looks like an amber ale. Here we go malty ipa. Head was off white, 1/3", butit kept receding to the point of resting around a 1/20" film, but at least it had respectable clarity to it. Aroma was devoid of any dry hopping. In fact, it seems like the entire beer may have been made with exclusive bittering hops of the older school variety.
Taste was a crystal malt driven malty high bitterness, probably Chinook hopped beer. Pine and red/crystal sticky heavier malted feels. The alcohol was moderately noticeable, I wouldn't say it hid it well. Its funny how a beer like Loakal red can be so similar, but somehow there the Centennial hops pop and the wood usage really gives the beer a drier and lighter feel than this excessive malt heft beer.
Would not recommend to even step dads who love high ibu ipas and red ales.
