Moderate and sustaining, dark tan head. Super dark and opaque brown look. Subtle, maximum roasted grain and malt aroma, with just a touch of woodiness. Nearly burnt but good and smooth, grain and malt flavor, with a good long finish.

16oz tallboy can given to me by my friend Will, who was golfing on the Oregon coast near the brewery. According to the stamp on the bottom of the can, it was canned on October 1,2020.
Poured viscously into the glass, it looked black as tar and conceded absolutely nothing to light. About half an inch of ran colored foam was present, and left some streaky and spotty lace.
Initially, the nose is mostly reminiscent of soy sauce. As it warms, coffee and, especially, cocoa aromas emerge, but the soy sauce aroma never goes away.
Initially, the taste was also dominated by a soy sauce-like flavor, with a little bit of coffee thrown in. But as it warmed, the coffee became more assertive and the cocoa bibs really came out to play. The rum that the cocoa bibs soaked in is in the deep background of the taste, which finishes with a bitter, roasty zap.
Medium-full body, with a creamy mouthfeel.
At first, I was kinda unimpressed with this beer, but I let it warm up a bit and it improved significantly. I would hit it again. Thanks, Will!
