Japanese Porter on Cask? Sign me up!
Served a deep brown, hazy and dark. Tan head is big, dense, and sticks around. Looks very nice. Nose is roasty and sweet, subtle but nice. Taste is complex and unique. Mostly straight-forward sweet malts accented with hops, but there's some black licorice, a bit of sourness, and hints of earth. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, but helped by being on cask. Drinkability is up there. Nice brew.

This was the brewery's featured real ale at the time, so I had to try a Japanese ale on cask. This was a first for me - and unfortunately my only time so far.
Flavors are basically the same as the tap version, but the mouthfeel becomes much more creamy, and the drinkability increases nicely as a result. Rounds out the beer quite nicely.
Highly recommended. If you are in Tokyo, you owe it to yourself to have a beer on the water. And definitely, have a pint of whatever they have on cask at the moment.
