they had a ton of fruit beers in here, but all of them seemed to use real fruit, and i know that makes a difference. this is drinkable for what it is, flavorful from the additives but not overly desserty to me, which is appreciated. its also served on nitro which really flatters the rich cocoa and fresh sweet and jammy raspberry in here. i like how bold the flavors are, its strong but still not forced, with a lot of dry roasty dark barley and chocoate malt jumping in to balance the cocoa nibs and obvious red raspberry. light tartness to the fruit also helps with the sugar balance, this isnt as sweet as it seems like it should be for how forward these flavors are. smooth in feel with a very strong but authentic raspberry flavor all the way through it, even though the finish. some bitterness from the nibs works in well, hints of smoke and milk chocolate too, its not at all one dimensional from a grain side, a solid stout on its own. not a huge body to it, but i think that lets the fruit influence it more. fresh and flavorful brew, more valentines time than the middle of summer for me, and way more fruit than chocolate here, but its hard to say this isnt delicious!
