22 ounce bottle into a snifter. 2018 bottle, had 2/27/20. Label says “barrel aged “, presumably in plain oak barrels.
Pours near black and opaque, oily looking, brief fizz for a head and sparse, oily cling. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, malt, light coffee, some oak. Flavors are mostly the same- malt, dark chocolate, oak, some coffee and caramel. It’s pretty bitter, thinking from both hops and malt. Harsh at first, smoother when warmer, a good full body, appropriately carbonated.
Not bad, there’s just not a lot there. Malt forward, some nice chocolate notes, fairly hoppy.
