3.59/5: Has a nice malt character for 3.4%, and even a modicum of depth

Appearance: Dispensed a dark reddish-brown body, fairly clear, with a whitish head.
Smell: Smooth, restrained notes on the nose, with dainty touches cocoa, ground nuts, toast and such. A very, very light fruitiness wraps it all up.
Taste: Albeit it mild, the beer leans malty, tasting of cocoa powder, moderately toasted nuts, caramel and toast. A little tangy fruitiness midway through. Very mild herbal tone and light incorporated bitterness. Drying, malty finish.
Mouthfeel: Falls just shy of medium-bodied. Medium-light carbonation.
Overall: A likable mild. It's not too far removed from their brown ale, The Bear, which I had following this one. As such, can't we rename this one The Cub for a bit of cheerful whimsy to counterplay the brown? You can have that one for free, Twin Leaf

Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a blood-ruby red coloring, with a bright, white halo of head. Nose of roasted caramel, sugary sweet notes, and subtle molasses. Flavors are heavily roasted sugar and caramel, with a subtle peppery hops characteristic. Mid-bodied, with a roasted and richly sweet aftertaste. The finish is oily slick, with a sugary linger. This is big and tasty.
