Schwarzbier is a traditional German style dark lager. Resembling the flavors of a porter/stout but less filling like a lighter lager. Soft chocolaty roast flavors dominate with low bitterness.

on tap at the Casual Pint in Charlotte, served in a shaker pint glass.
Beer pours nearly black with ruby highlights when held to the light. About one finger worth of tan head that recedes quickly leaving behind no lacing.
The aroma is of lightly roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee. Mildly sweet with Just the faintest hint of hops
The taste is similar to the aroma with roasted malts and dark chocolate at the forefront. and to a lesser degree coffee and caramel flavors . Moderately sweet with a nice balance of flavors. No noticeable hop flavors. Medium/light bodied and mildly carbonated. Velvety on the tongue.
Overall this is a nice beer that walks the line between the heavier handed American versions and the lighter traditional German versions of the style.

Enjoyed a pint while visiting the South Slope taproom 3-8-23 for $6.00.
Beer was served black with an okay tan head.
Nose was chocolate forward over medium roasted malts.
Taste followed the nose with the medium roasted malt base emitting major notes of chocolate that was balanced very nicely by balancing hops. Finish was well balanced and tasty.
Mouthfeel was light to medium bodied and pretty smooth.
Overall a really tasty brew, could get used to this as a session beer!
