It's solid! Great blend of flavors going on. Pours thick, boozy, smells inviting, smooth, and silky.

Breakfast Sauce #3. Oh boy, worth the wait. What a fantastic beer from Transient. The bourbon and tequila barrels blend in perfect harmony. It is chocolatey, sweet, and just a pinch of spice from the chilies. The twang from the tequila dances on the taste buds. A must find.

Appearance - from the bottle, the beer poured a murky brownish black color with an off-white head crowning the glass.
Smell - There was sweetness in the nose, but you are also able to detect the pepper and the booze. The nice balance was very apparent.
Taste - Perhaps more than any other dessert stout, this beer found the right balance between maple and cinnamon. The peppers were light, but let you knew they were there. They provided a nice dimension to the spice profile. Yet what really made this beer pop was the barrel aging, particularly the tequila. The cinnamon lingered in the aftertaste with the tequila barrel. Even with the barrel aging, there was no burn.
Mouthfeel - The smoothness of a milk stout was apparent with low carbonation an adjunct goodness.
Overall - this beer was absolutely amazing. I don’t throw around 5’s lightly.

Pours black with mahogany on the edges and a dark tan that sizzles out of the bottle and as it rapidly dissipates. The barrel is with this massive stout on the nose, with tequila and bourbon notes present to accompany the cacao nibs and especially the cinnamon, which is most prominent. The chiles are acting shy on the nose - you know they’re present, but it’s difficult to spot them.
It is not difficult to identify them on the taste, though - they are at the tail end of every pull you make as a not-so-subtle heat at the very back of the palate, and are an exquisite finish to a flavor profile that leads with cinnamon, then works its way through the barrels and the cacao.
The mouthfeel is full and creamy, a trait I’ve found with all of Transient’s imperial stouts. This is a crusher in that spiced hot chocolate category where beers like Xocoveza and Mexican Cake reside. Welcome to the party!
