Pours a bright, shiny, pitch black color. Completely opaque and quite viscous. Thin tan head struggles to form on the beer, and eventually just completely disappears outside of a thin ring of foam along the outside of the top of the beer. The predominant aroma is cinnamon, and this sweet vanilla creme. Underneath that there is this spicy, earthy, nutty character to the aroma - that would seem to be the roasted carrots and black walnuts coming through. Its a really rich decadent aroma, but somehow it doesn't come across as overly sweet at all.
Much like the aroma, the cinnamon is the predominant flavor in the flavor profile. There are notes of vanilla, sweet marshmallow, a hint of maple, some generic nutty flavors and some earthy notes. It is reminiscent of a carrot cake - but in a more general, broad strokes, way. That keeps it from getting too sweet. The roasted carrots don't really come through in the flavor, but there is this light earthy flavor that I suspect is a result of the carrots and the walnuts. Feel is moderately bodied, bordering on thicc. Smooth, moderate carbonation. Somewhat drier on the finish.
Overall its an interesting idea for a stout, but it ends up being less out there than you might suspect from the description. Either way, its absolutely delicious.

Pours onyx black with a tan head, there’s a lot going on here, with vanilla, cinnamon, marshmallow, roasted carrots, black walnuts, Michigan maple syrup and spices listed on the label.
I get the cinnamon, vanilla, maple, and spices on the nose, and the cinnamon, maple and spices are most prominent on the taste, and there’s a nice boozy note as well, and a bit of the carrot.
Delicious, adventurous imperial stout from a world-class brewery.

A - Pours pitch black with a thin tan head. Light soapy lacing.
S - Aroma is cinnamon, black walnuts and coffee.
T - The taste is cinnamon, maple syrup, walnuts, dark chocolate and coffee.
M - Full body with medium carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a crisp dry finish.
O - Really different imperial stout. Tons of flavors going on but everything seems to work.
