500 ml bottle into a snifter. Had 7/9/21.

Pours an opaque dark brown, with a short, quickly dissipating head of darker foam and light soapy lacing. Aromas of chocolate, oak, roasted malt, vanilla, brown sugar, char, some tobacco and leather, some sherry and molasses, bourbon as it warms. The flavors seem a little more focused- chocolate, bourbon, sherry, oak, vanilla, roasted malt, brown sugar, some tobacco and molasses, light leather. Smooth, a solid full body, appropriately carbonated.

The cacao nibs really set the table for this, and the bourbon/sherry barrels show well and evenly in the flavor. Lots of distinct aromas and flavors to savor. Really enjoyable.

2020 release. I have not had the standard Neckbeard Nectar before, so no basis for comparison, but the sherry barrel does stand out. I would guess some kind of wine barrel ageing was used even if it wasn't labeled. Cacao nibs are more on the nose than the palate because the sherry takes over there, also joined by some cola notes and generic oak. Slightly thin for 14% and aged, with a long sweet finish.

Pours black, with a sizzling dark tan head that evaporates quickly. The nose is filled with rich milk chocolate aromas, and a big dose of the sherry barrel, which presents as stone fruit here.

Note: I absolutely LOVE stone fruit in a big stout.

I’m not disappointed on the taste, as ripe dark cherries come forward to accent the rich milk chocolate notes, and play well against the decadent, boozy finish. Just wow.

The mouthfeel is fairly rich and creamy, but is a bit watery. Overall, this is a more than worthy variant in the Neckbeard series, and one I’d buy again.

A - Pours pitch black with a fizzy tan head. The head fades extremely fast leaving some light soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is dark chocolate, raisins, vanilla and sherry.

T - The taste is dark chocolate, dark cherries, raisins, vanilla, molasses, roasted malts, oak and nice hit of sherry in the finish.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a crisp finish.

O - Definetly an interesting variant. Big sherry notes throughout. Not overly sweet which was a nice change of pace.

Medium black body with a tan collar. Aromas of the sherry and bourbon both detected, but sherry leads, big chocolate and dark fruit accompanying. Really found the taste to be fascinating, each barrel has their champions. The bourbon has the chocolate and light black strap molasses, where the sherry has powerful raisin, black currant, and date. Vanillin laden oak bridges the gap between these camps. Creamy and rich without being super heavy or full in the mouthfeel, sherry more formative than bourbon here too. I don't want to say it is bright, but certainly fruity in a nuanced way. It really works well together, bravo! Pairs great with stilton. The wife liked it
