sampling a 16.9 Fl oz bottle at cellar temp and poured into my snifter. No date stamp on the bottle but I received this in March this year.
the beer pours a dark black coffee color with no light passing through my glass. A dense creamy head foams up about 1 cm and fades to a sturdy edge layer quickly after the pour. Some small spinning islands are fed by the carbonation rising, but nothing significant forms on the surface.
Aroma is malty and on the sweeter side. I get sweetened coffee with hints of fudge, hot cocoa powder, and roasted maltnotes. There is a bit of a whisky or bourbon note, although only mentions aged on coffee, not in a bourbon barrel. No hops on the nose.
The first sip reveals a medium body with sticky texture and coating mouthfeel. Physically this feels like a bigger beer.
Flavor is rich and malty with sweetened coffee, some vanilla, hints of a bourbon note again and dark chocolate. Finishes with coffee roast and what I presume is chicory root notes. Not quite tangy but not sweet either.
No hop presence to be found on the flavor profile either. Booze is hidden with no warming or peppery bite.
A tasty smooth imperial stout that hides its booze and makes me happy to have consumed this bottle.

This is a great beer! For beers, any Transient beer is always a safe option period. This beer has the nice smokiness of a barrel aged American stout along with some coffee and cream. The cream does make it somewhat heavy but it’s still a great beer and I would definitely recommend trying it.

Appearance - The beer poured brownish black with a mocha colored head.
Smell - I smell that chicory coffee.
Taste - The initial taste was super rich and delicious coffee. For some reason, I also got hints of blueberry. The profile turned chocolately in back. It seemed to finish a bit weak. Overall, this was delicious.
Mouthfeel - The feel was almost frothy with goodness. Carbonation was hardly active.
Overall - This is another great coffee beer from Transient.

Brownish black pour with brown head. Smell and taste are clones: earthy coffee and chicory meets cool vanilla cream, oatmeal, roasted nuts, and slight brown sugar. All of this is done in a complimentary way, melds immediately. Feel is super creamy, hides the booze better than grandma, medium bodied yet full. This was a different take on the coffee stout that was really enjoyable

Very roasty focus on the nose: red grape, toast, caramel, light char, leather, tobacco.
Unbelievably smooth and rich on the palate, with deep tones of caramel, chocolate, hazelnut, molasses, and toffee. Yes, the ABV is huge, but that's still somehow an insufficient warning for the depth of flavor. Chicory only emerges as the beer really warms down to around room temperature, but while it loses some of the richness in the process, it gains another level with the chicory coffee.
This is, without a doubt, a front-runner for barrel aging. Incredible beer.
