Celebratory beer after getting poked for the second time today (only one – the headache from the first jab almost killed me). 500ML bottle with pink lettering.
The pour is black & unusually active for a big stout that’s thick around the middle. The nose is bourbon & thick malts. Full stop.
Wake & Cake – Blanton’s is missing the BLiS experience from the other W&C I consumed recently. Still has the harsh bourbon edge & luscious malts but without a gentling hand to calm both down. Chocolate is almost lost but the oak is biting on the finish. Happy to get through a moderate sized bottle but that’ll be fine for today.
A good, solid, unremarkable barrel aged stout.
