Pours black and settles a light swallowing onyx black in the glass with a sudsy mocha colored head that sizzles and dissipates quickly. Beautiful BA imperial stout.
The nose is really focused on vanilla and chocolate aromas, and there’s some maple sweetness and a hint of the barrel and coffee as well.
The coffee and barrel are more pronounced on the taste, with barrel providing a nice warming at the back of the palate, but there’s stars of this beer are the vanilla and rich chocolate flavors, IMHO. Absolutely delicious, and way too drinkable at 14.5% ABV.
The mouthfeel is rich and creamy, fitting this big beer exceptionally well. Transient has alway done this style really well, and this beer continues that tradition.

When I opened this, the big fizzy pop scared me that it was infected or something. Then I poured it and the appearance-dark, slightly tan quickly dissipating head, minimal lacing-and I thought it could be okay. Then I smelled it-strong maple, coffee, and chocolate notes, hints of chocolate and vanilla and subtle barrel presence-and I was more convinced. But the proof is in the tasting, and the only way this is an infected beer is if it’s infected with awesomeness. Big flavors of maple, coffee, chocolate malt, and vanilla. with a more barrel assertiveness than on the smell. A slight and pleasant oily thickness, medium to big bodied, and a well disguised alcohol presence. I love the Uckley series, and this is one of the best.

Working in full force as a true breakfast stout. A focus on all things coffee.
